TECHNOLOGY INSIGHTS
Over thirty years of experience in engineering design and development of advanced power systems with emphasis on the integration of design and safety risk assessment, plus technical and economic evaluation of new, emerging technologies suitable for distributed generation. Experience spans vendor and consulting entities with emphasis on advanced gas-cooled nuclear reactors. Expertise areas include systems engineering and management, safety and reliability assessments, licensing methodology development and implementation, plus design tradeoff and optimization assessments. Other key experience includes technical and economic assessment of distributed generation options, i.e., microturbines, fuel cells, and Stirling engines. Current emphasis areas of consulting on advanced gas-cooled nuclear reactors include:
-
Engineering management including direction of plant and system-level trade studies and design integration of multi-disciplinary areas
-
Systems engineering analyses, including requirements, functional analysis, and performance and reliability analyses
-
Nuclear reactor licensing of advanced power plants with the use of probabilistic risk assessment
-
Demonstration project development, including project planning, permitting/licensing and control plus implementation support
-
Economic evaluation, including probabilistic uncertainty assessments, for a spectrum of hydrogen processes with advanced gas-cooled reactors
